The Kat River gurgles merrily - for the most part - through the northern residential areas of George. The stream emerges from the mountain and enters George at Fernridge, traversing Denneoord, Twee Rivieren, and Bergsig, then bordering Denver Park, Genevafontein and Eden to the north before adding to the water collected at the Garden Route Dam - the town’s primary source of drinking water.

Competition For The Cleanest Town
Performance in waste management in a broader context, which includes recycling, proper sewage disposal practices, the effective running of landfill sites and creating clean, healthy living conditions for the poor, will determine the winners of this year’s Cleanest Town Competition in South Africa. In a nutshell, the competition is aimed at spurring on municipalities to reduce their carbon footprint.
