Local Excels At Ballet
A student at the Diana Townsend School of Ballet in George, Marli Fourie, recently achieved the highest mark of 92 percent and Honours for the Cecchetti Intermediate exam which she took in October last year.
In recognition of her outstanding achievement, Marli was awarded the Intermediate Award for the Eastern Cape by the Cecchetti Society of South Africa and received a medal.
Diana Townsend and her daughter Abigail Geldenhuys are Marli’s trainers, and she has been a student at the ballet school for the past five years, having moved to George from the free State. Marli was awarded Honours for all the examinations she took in 2006 and shared one of the leading roles in the school’s spectacular production of Fabergé, which was danced in the George Civic Centre in 2006.
