Mossel Bay - A devastated father is determined to get justice for his daughter, who was allegedly killed by a convicted drunk driver as he tried to flee from the police in Hartenbos, Mossel Bay
The Weekend Argus reported that Dante Hageman, 10, and her best friend Sonja van Wyk, 11, died in the accident in February while Sonja’s father, Jaco van Wyk, was seriously injured.
Friedl Roller, 39, is believed to have several previous convictions for drunk and reckless driving and apparently had a suspended sentence when police pulled him over for reckless driving on the night of the accident.
As he sped away, he crashed into Van Wyk’s car.
Now one of the dead girls’ fathers is determined to put Roller behind bars.
Mark Hageman started a campaign, No Bail for Friedl Roller and got 5 000 signatures for his petition.
“She was my everything,” said a devastated Hageman.
A protest has also been planned for Roller’s court appearance on Thursday.
