Mossel Bay Municipality scooped an award for engineering excellence for its R200-million seawater desalination plant which was built at a cost of R191,4 million and commissioned in November 2011.

The municipality was awarded the Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa (IMESA) and Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA) award in the category for water and waste water projects for 2012 at the opening night of the annual conference of the Institute of Municipal Engineers, at the Outeniqua Transport Museum on Tuesday.
