Great Brak River (Afrikaans: Groot Brakrivier) is a historic coastal village in the Western Cape province of South Africa, built around the lagoon of the Great Brak River, and an ever-popular holiday destination.
Situated midway between George (30 km) and Mossel Bay (27 km) at the very heart of South Africa's Garden Route, it is flanked by the magnificent Outeniqua Mountains in the north and unspoiled beaches of the Indian ocean to the South.
Great Brak River experiences a mild climate throughout the year, with temperatures between 14-16°C in summer and 7-21°C in winter. Rainfall averages around 400mm per year, mostly in the winter months (August to October).
