July 23rd marks the birthday (or what is referred to as the 'earth day') of the Rastafarian's spiritual messiah, His Majesty Haile Selassie I. The annual Earth Festival, which takes place from the 22nd to 30th July 2018, honours this special date on their religious calender and is a joyous and colourful celebration of this fascinating and vibrant Knysna community.
The Eden to Addo Great Corridor Hike is a 20 day, over 350 kilometer, fund raising expedition for and about conservation. All money raised contributes to building essential conservation corridors stretching from Knysna to Addo, linking the three mega reserves of the area: The Garden Route National Park, the Baviaanskloof World Heritage Site and Addo Elephant National Park.
The 2018 Dr. Evil Classic will feature the best mountain-biking the Garden Route has to offer. A limited number of entries remain for the BUCO Dr. Evil Classic, the official partner race of the BUCO Lions Karoo to Coast.
As previously, the 27th Hermanus Whale Festival, being the oldest and largest festival on the cape whale coast in South Africa, is a celebration of the whales and all marine life - above and below the ocean!
The George Strawberry Festival presented by Ola is all set for a magnificent family weekend of strawberries, outdoor activities, good food, live music shows and epic sports on 29 and 30 September 2018 at Redberry Farm.
The Knysna Timber Festival is the creation of the Knysna Timber Initiative, a group of local Knysna businesses who see Knysna as the Woodworking Capital of South Africa – largely due the the deep and rich heritage and history of timber-related activities in the area.
The 8th running of the MTO Tour de Plett MTB race will be on Saturday 6th October 2018. The event caters to all tastes by offering multiple distances (87km, 60km 40km and 20km Fun Ride). The routes showcase Plett and the surrounding areas and provide access to new areas.
Once again it is time for the Meiringspoort 21km and 12.5km. The Meiringspoort 21.1 km was the brain child of a group of women runners who took to the farm roads in the early mornings way back in 1993.
