George's Bianca Buitendag (18) clinched the biggest victory of her professional surfing career when she defeated Alana Blanchard from Hawaii in the final of the ASP 6-Star rated Movistar Women's Pro presented by Rip Curl and Petrolera Sapet in Peru.
Competing in excellent waves at the lefthand pointbreak of Lobitos, Buitendag used her powerful forehand attack to post a heat total of 15.00 points (out of a possible 20), earning scores of 7.0 and an 8.0 on her two best rides, to Blanchard's 12.90 (7.9 and 5.0).
"I feel really emotional and very happy with my victory," said Buitendag on the podium.
Buitendag, who has based herself in France where she has already won three consecutive ASP Women's Pro Junior (U20) events since matriculating at Outeniqua High School last year, was dominant throughout the event in Peru.
