The annual Sasol Strettons Birding Experience in the Wilderness section of the Garden Route National Park will take place from 24 to 28 October.
A unique birding experience in an area of breathtaking beauty, birders will have the opportunity to spot rare species in the different biomes presented by the Wilderness section.
The species found there include the African Rail, White-Starred Robin, Narina Trogon, Knysna Turaco and Victorin's Warbler as well as birds of prey such as Osprey, African Marsh Harrier, Forest and Jackal Buzzards and the African Fish Eagle.
The event will open with an introduction to birding identification presented by Peter Ginn. Birders will also enjoy outings with local birding experts on forest and fynbos trails, along flood-plains, lake areas, estuaries, beaches and Karoo plains, all of which play host to a huge variety of bird life.
Other activities include a photography workshop, canoe trail, presentations by Peter Ginn and an address by Trevor Hardaker, avid birder and wildlife and photography travel guide. Attendees will also have the opportunity to earn certificates and prizes as part of the Stretton's Birding Challenge.
