South Africa’s only walking festival is becoming the ‘not-to-miss’ event on the Garden Route. The region is home to South Africa’s most famous trails and hiking routes.
The festival celebrates iconic walks that appeal to everyone in the family, from young kids to seasoned hikers. This 4 day event is packed with fun activities and adventures.
The festival programme includes the best walks of the Garden Route located between Mossel Bay and Nature’s Valley, taking in the entire coast and including the mountains.
Meander through amazing forests, stride beyond the lagoons of Sedgefield or encounter mists deep in the Tsitsikamma mountains. Robberg Peninsula is a mini-world on its own with unique heritage and views. Trails and walks around Nature’s Valley, Great Bark and Mossel Bay are not to be missed.
All walks are led by volunteers or professional walking guides. Festival goers explore off-the-beaten-track trails and unusual spots from local townships to the highest peaks in the region, like George Peak or Peak Formosa.
Most walks are free to join, while others require a guiding fee or permit to attend. The festival raises funds and awareness for trail maintenance and trail upkeep on the Garden Route’s favourite trails and has teamed up with Green Flag Trails International to help make this happen.
