SDK Architects Inc has become a leading architectural practice (and the oldest established practice) in the Southern Cape Region. The firm was originally founded in 1984 as Smuts & de Kock incorporated. The two current directors, Janiel de Kock and Karen Nel, decided on the name change to SDK Architects in 2007.

The office is based in George, the capital of the Southern Cape. Projects have been undertaken in all the major towns in the region, including Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay and as far afield as Cape Town.
